July is another month with several birthdays. Starting off this month are Jackie S. 1st, Kevin D. and Desiree D. 2nd. Falling in between are Grace B. and Ruthie C. 18th, Joe M. 19th, Debbie C. 20th, Joy D. 22nd, Brett K. 25th, Renee S. 27th, and Jennifer R. 29th. And closing out the month is Tom Z. 31st. We thank God for all of you and pray that you will know and appreciate His blessings during the year ahead.

The retreat is July 23 - 24th and below is the registration form, please fill it out and send it in with your money asap to Gerry. Why go? We have a new location, 3 new priests joining us, 1 new seminarian, 1 pastoral minister, 1 deacon and diocesan employee sure to make the retreat a wonderful experience! Please come! A group of us will be going but please send in your money individually as the form indicates. Invite friends and family. We will be having Bible Study at my house this week. I live at 720 Shields Street Bethlehem PA 18015. Parking is behind my house. We are also starting a new series on John Paul II's encyclical the Gospel of Life (Evangelium Vitae). This is a great introduction to many topics as well as to the idea of the Theology of the Body. I am looking into getting copies of this encyclical for everyone perferably with a study guide.Mary Francis suggested this topic and the encyclical is available online so I will send the Introduction out and we will have an open discussion on the Introduction this week.
We will be starting a video series on the book of Matthew that Ruthie gave me when we finish this next topic. I need to ensure that we will have a VHS player available from Assumption so that we can watch the video weekly and discuss the questions I have in a commentary.
Some other ideas for the future include watching videos of movies with a moral message and discussing it. Probably watch the video the first week and maybe the second week followed by discussion of that particular film and Theology of the Body. So stay tuned.

Attention fearless rafters,

It's fast approaching time for our annual whitewater-rafting adventure. This year, we are planning Saturday, Sept. 4 (Labor Day weekend) at our usual site in White Haven, Pa. with Whitewater Challengers. Price is $58.95 plus $5.75 for a prepaid lunch. Free hot dog cookout afterward if we wish to stay.
